With the rise of social media, this world has undergone a rapid and drastic evolution. I’ve been exploring these changes and am excited about what the combination of photography and motion design can achieve on these platforms. In an era where volatility often prevails, I want to make a difference by creating visuals that stick and reinforce brand identity.
Motion to create emotion
Two moments shaped my journey into the graphic world: a photo taken with a round barrel and a pencil.
1: My first photo dates back to 1974, taken with a wash barrel that had a hole in it! An afternoon in the craft studio changed my perspective on the world. The attic became my darkroom, and my first holiday job salary went toward my first camera. While the list of devices I’ve bought since is long, it’s ultimately unimportant—I look with my eyes and have learned to see like a camera lens.
2: My drawing professor owned a truly remarkable pencil—something about it felt both unique and inspiring. Curious, I asked if I could try using it for a drawing. To my delight, I was allowed to use it throughout the entire lesson. And in an act of kindness, during the following lesson, the professor surprised me by gifting me one of those special pencils!
I graduated in Graphic Design from St.-Lucas Brussels and founded my own company, ‘Type & Graphic BVBA,’ where I specialized in creating offline designs for clients such as Etcetera, Night of the Proms, VCGT (Tourist Office for Flanders), Seagull, NCB, Het Nieuwsblad, BBL, Ronde van Vlaanderen, Remi Industries, IGL, and Van OS.
In 1999, I transitioned to web design, and a couple of years later, I took on the role of Team Lead at ‘1eEurope.be,’ working with clients like De Standaard, Ice Tea, Sabena, Lego, Sydes, Plantin, Scripta, and Metavector.
With a foundation in Graphic Design, I ventured into the IT field at the dawn of the Internet. Embracing the digital revolution, I transitioned into IT management, where I combined my creative skills and technical expertise to navigate and shape the evolving technology landscape. This journey enabled me to merge my artistic vision with strategic IT management, fostering growth and driving innovative solutions.
At Proximus, I was responsible for implementing ‘Vodafone Live’ in Belgium.
Embracing the digital revolution, I transitioned into IT management, combining my creative skills and technical expertise to shape and navigate the evolving technology landscape. This journey enabled me to merge my artistic vision with strategic IT management, fostering growth and driving innovative solutions. My immersion in the dynamic world of technology and IT management ultimately led me to the role of Operations Manager for BELUX at ATOS.
In 2024, I took a break to recharge and reflect on my career. During this time, I revisited my roots, explored my interests, gained fresh perspectives, and prepared for the next chapter. Now, in early 2025, I’m excited to embark on a new journey, returning to my passion for the graphical world. With a renewed appreciation for design and creativity, I look forward to bringing fresh perspectives and innovative ideas to the ever-evolving field of graphic design.
